TL;DR
In recent weeks, three independent movements have been running in parallel across the trust infrastructure of finance — Anthropic's operational AI reaching the core of financial workflows, regulators across the US, EU, and Japan converging on how to institutionalize accountability for AI-driven decisions, and large-scale cross-chain bridge exploits in DeFi. Lay them side by side, and one shape recurs: wherever decisions cross system boundaries, "cryptographically valid" and "semantically right" decouple. Lemma is building infrastructure for that decoupling — pre-execution attestation — and over the past two weeks has made two publicly runnable reference implementations available.

▸ Operational AI reaches the core
In recent days, Anthropic has sharply accelerated its push into financial services. Ten ready-to-run agent templates — covering pitchbook generation, KYC screening, credit memo drafting, earnings review, month-end close, and adjacent core workflows — now ship as reference architectures running inside Claude Cowork, Claude Code, and as Claude Managed Agents. Claude has been embedded directly into Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and partnerships with financial data providers, including Moody's, have been announced in parallel. Alongside the product surface, large-scale investment and partnership structures aimed at financial services have taken shape.
Agents drafting pitchbooks, screening KYC files, and closing the month — that mode of operation is now starting in earnest.
For CISOs, IT leaders, and risk officers, this raises a parallel question that grows in weight at the same speed. When agents draft, decide, and close, can you reproduce — six or twelve months later, in front of an examiner or a court — which data they referenced, which rules they applied, which model generation made the call? This question rises in lockstep with AI adoption. It does not arrive separately.
▸ Three movements running in parallel
Step back, and what's visible in recent weeks is a set of independent movements pointing in the same direction across the trust infrastructure of finance. Anthropic's push is one of them. The others are worth holding next to it, because they bring the underlying question into focus.
Regulators and policy authorities have moved as well. Triggered by Anthropic's Mythos — a frontier model demonstrating autonomous zero-day discovery — the US Treasury and Federal Reserve summoned major bank CEOs, and Anthropic itself launched Project Glasswing, restricting Mythos access to vetted US/EU financial institutions. In Japan, the FSA Minister convened the BoJ Governor, the three megabanks, JBA, and JPX in emergency session on April 24, with a Japanese equivalent of Project Glasswing now under discussion. Across the US (Treasury, Federal Reserve), the EU (Glasswing's vetted perimeter), and Japan (FSA Minister, BoJ, banking industry) — the same question, how to institutionalize accountability for AI-driven decisions, is on the table simultaneously across three jurisdictions.
DeFi infrastructure has surfaced parallel issues. Several cross-chain bridge exploits hit during this period. In the Kelp DAO / rsETH incident, approximately $292M moved out under a 1-of-1 DVN configuration in under 46 minutes. The transactions used were cryptographically valid in every meaningful way — no leaked keys, no smart contract bugs in the conventional sense. The receiving systems had no way to verify origin and committed anyway. By the time monitoring fired, assets had moved.
And then there is Anthropic's push itself: operational AI moving into the core workflows of financial institutions in earnest.
▸ One shape, recurring
These three movements look unrelated on the surface. Place them side by side, and one shape recurs. Wherever decisions cross system boundaries, "cryptographically valid" and "semantically right" decouple — this shape appears in all three. The boundary where an operational AI renders judgment inside a bank, the boundary where attack-AI meets defense-AI, the boundary where assets move across a bridge — at each one, the signature passes but the substance is something else, and formal validity and semantic legitimacy are separate matters.
Post-hoc tracing, freezing, and explanation matter, and the industry has invested in them for years. What hasn't moved is the moment of commit itself — the layer where the receiving side could independently verify "is this state transition actually legitimate?" before acting. With operational AI now reaching the core of financial institutions, the absence of that layer is acquiring weight at the same time.
▸ What Lemma Oracle is building
We treat the absence of that layer as a structural problem. Here is what Lemma Oracle is — our hypothesis and implementation against it, in the shortest form.
Lemma is infrastructure that, when an AI makes a business decision or a state transitions across systems, preserves the provenance of that decision or transition — who, on what data, under which rules, on which model — in a tamper-evident form, and lets the receiving side verify it independently before commit. Technically this is built from zero-knowledge proofs, cryptographic commitments, and on-chain anchoring.
Concretely, in financial services:
- AI-driven KYC screening — preserve the inputs, applied rules, and outputs of each judgment in a form regulators can audit later. The raw PII never reaches the AI; only proofs of "above threshold," "meets condition," and similar predicates do
- Credit memos and underwriting — record the data the agent referenced and the logic it applied, so examiners and counsel can reproduce the decision months later
- Cross-system settlement — on protocols like x402, prove "who paid, under what authority, on which data" without exposing the data
- Oracle → contract — the receiving contract independently verifies issuer, conditions, and timestamp before committing to the price or attribute
We call the layer pre-execution attestation — verification before commit. EDR and SIEM are the "stop and observe" layer; forensics and SOC are the "trace afterwards" layer; pre-execution attestation is the "verify before commit" layer. Different roles, no conflict; resilience requires all three.

▸ What remains across the three movements
Across all three movements, one proposition remains. Anthropic's recent push coincides with operational AI entering its mainstream phase in finance. Read carefully, the same movement surfaces a parallel need — to put AI-decision provenance on an institutional and technical footing.
Frontier models cycle every six months. Whatever follows Mythos arrives on the same cadence. A standardized provenance regime, by contrast, carries forward across model generations. That is the condition for operational AI to settle into multi-decade institutional practice rather than a one-off wave of adoption.
Models change. Proofs remain.
